A passenger’s forehead was cracked by stone pelting on the train – 2024-05-30 08:56:06

Miscreants pelted stones on the Rajshahi-bound Antnagar ‘Titumir Express’ train from Chilahati in Nilphamari. A passenger of that train named Laila Banu (45) was injured. The incident took place between Nilphamari College and Darwani Station on Monday (May 27) around 4:30 pm.

Laila Banu is a resident of Domar Paur area of ​​Nilfamari and wife of Chilahati post office official Hafizur Rahman. She was coming from Domar to Syedpur town for her husband’s treatment in Rangpur.

The husband of the injured Hafizur Rahman told Jago News that he was coming from Chilahati railway station to Syedpur by Titumir Express train for treatment in Rangpur. He used to go to Rangpur by bus after going down to Syedpur. Domar picked up his wife at the station. The husband and wife sat in seats number 45, 46 of the ‘A’ compartment of that train. Layla Khatun sat on the seat next to the open window. When the train reached the middle of Nilphamari College-Darwani station, a stone thrown by miscreants hit Laila on the eye. It ruptures and bleeds. Later, when the train stopped at Syedpur railway station, he got down there with his wife. Meanwhile, railway security personnel rescued his wife and quickly took her to the emergency department of Syedpur Railway Hospital.

Laila Banu, an injured housewife, told Jago News, “I have heard of many people losing their eyes and having their heads crushed by stones on the train.” But today it happened on my forehead. I demand to the railway authorities that this should not happen to any other passenger. Railway authorities must take the responsibility of providing safety to the passengers.

Anishul Islam, a railway security worker at Syedpur station, told Jago News that he saw the passenger in blood at the station. After being rescued, I quickly took him to the emergency department of Syedpur Railway Hospital and arranged for treatment. We have informed the higher authority.

Syedpur Railway Hospital supervisor Dr. Md. Anishul Haque told Jago News that a female train passenger came to the emergency department for treatment at around 5 pm. The passenger had injury marks on his right side above his eye. He returned home after treatment.

AKM Nurul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Syedpur Railway Police Station, told Jago News that he has not received any written complaint in this regard. Action will be taken if complaints are received.
