A new RISK FACTOR for myocardial infarction – 2024-09-07 12:15:20 – 2024-09-07 12:15:21

Living in a noisy area can increase the risk of a heart attack and worsen the health of heart attack survivors.

Publika.az “HealthDay” reported on this with reference to two recent studies conducted in Europe.

In a study conducted by German researchers, data were analyzed on 400 people aged 50 and under who were hospitalized with a heart attack. Among them were people with a low risk of heart attack. Most of them lived in noisy places. This may mean that noise may increase the likelihood of a heart attack in young people without traditional risk factors.

Another study examined data from 864 French patients after a heart attack. The authors measured the noise level in each of their homes. On average, the chance of developing complications after a heart attack increased by 25% for every 10 decibels at night. The authors also considered other risk factors, including poverty and air pollution.

The scientists stressed that their findings are not conclusive and need to be confirmed in larger studies.
