A new method of deception is being used by scammers in Kazakhstan, Liter.kz reports.

According to the West Kazakhstan Police Department, attacks by Internet scammers against doctors and teachers of educational institutions have recently become more frequent. Criminals, having previously installed a photo of the head of the organization on their chats in the WhatsApp and Telegram applications, write on their behalf to an employee of this organization that employees of the National Security Committee will call him and it is necessary to follow their instructions.

Then the criminals call the future victim and, introducing themselves as employees of the National Security Committee, mislead them with information about their banking operations to finance terrorist activities. They use fake documents. Taking advantage of the confusion of the victim, they are persuaded to transfer the funds in their accounts or borrowed on credit to a supposedly safe account they have prepared in advance, after which the scammers freely dispose of the stolen money.

The police remind citizens that employees of banks and government agencies will never call and offer to apply for a loan or transfer money to any accounts.

“These are scammers. In such cases, you just need to turn off the call and contact the police,” the West Kazakhstan Police Department warned.
