Ucom announces the start of a new phase of network modernization, within the framework of which official agreements were signed in Yerevan with one of the global giants, Nokia, and MediaKind, an international leading company offering modern television solutions and new quality services. The signing ceremony was attended by RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Acting Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan, Chairman of the Television and Radio Commission Tigran Hakobyan, ambassadors, heads of the banking, technological and business sectors.
“Ucom has taken a bold step in all directions, making investments aimed at the company’s next stage of development. It is important for us at this time to expand and modernize the network by introducing 5G-ready technologies. We will start those works from the marzes. Nokia has been selected by Ucom to upgrade and expand the mobile network, making it ready for 5G transition in all regions of Armenia. In addition, Nokia will upgrade the core infrastructure of Ucom’s fixed and mobile networks, deploy a new high-bandwidth IP transport network, which will improve the mobile and fixed user experience by increasing data transfer speed and capacity.
