A modern student dormitory will soon open in Almaty

In Almaty, the construction of a new student dormitory with an inclusive approach, located on the territory of Narxoz University, continues, Liter.kz reports with reference to the city akimat.

The project is being implemented at the expense of the university shareholder, and at the moment the construction work has already been completed by 80%. It is expected that the new dormitory will be put into operation by the beginning of the new academic year in August of this year.

The new dormitory will become a home for both students studying on a state educational grant and those studying on a commercial basis. Particular attention is paid to students with special needs, for whom specialized rooms are provided.

β€œIn the hostel, designed for 424 places, not only comfortable living rooms will be created, but also a variety of infrastructure facilities. Among them are a canteen, a medical center, a coworking area with Internet access, as well as public spaces for students to study and relax. Plans for landscaping the territory include landscaping with the planting of more than a hundred shrubs and trees, the creation of workout zones and a usable roof with rare plants,” – noted in the akimat.

Additionally, the city authorities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, are actively working to coordinate the construction of dormitories through a specially created project office. This initiative has already attracted the attention of 120 potential investors, and in 2023 the construction of 14 dormitories was successfully implemented, which significantly exceeded plans. In 2024, it is planned to open another 15 facilities with 6,690 beds. The city development program aims to solve the problem of shortage of student places by 2030.
