A memorandum was signed between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan – 2024-08-24 21:18:00

On May 2, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

It was reported that the delegation of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov, and the delegation of Tajikistan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sodig Imomi.

Political issues During the negotiations, political, economic-trade, cultural-humanitarian and cooperation between the two countries within the framework of bilateral as well as international and regional organizations, regional security, as well as other issues of mutual interest were discussed.

It was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan, created a favorable opportunity for new areas of cooperation, and the other party was informed about the organization of this prestigious event.

In addition, the two countries exchanged views on the legal framework and the projects under consideration.

During the meeting, “Memorandum of Understanding on consular cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan” was signed.

At the same time, consular consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Tajikistan on May 2, 2024.

During the consultations, the head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emil Safarov led the delegation of Azerbaijan, and the head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Safarzoda Bahadur led the delegation of Tajikistan.

During the consular consultations, discussions were held on the current situation and development prospects of consular cooperation with Tajikistan, which is an important partner country for Azerbaijan, as well as the protection of rights and freedoms of the citizens of the two countries, and the development of relations in the fields of migration and justice. At the end of the negotiations, the protocol of the meeting was signed by the delegations of the two countries.
