Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked a fuel depot in the Smolensk region of Russia overnight, leading to a fire.
According to Reuters news agency, this was shared on Telegram today (April 20) by Mr. Vasily Anokhin, Governor of Smolensk region, western Russia.
Mr. Anokhin said, Ukrainian UAVs attacked an energy and fuel facility in the Kardym area at 2 a.m. (local time), crashing into a fuel and lubricating oil tank. He added that firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire.

“The air defense force shot down the UAV. However, due to falling UAV debris, a tank containing fuel and lubricating oil caught fire,” he confirmed.
According to him, it is unclear whether anyone was injured in the Ukrainian UAV attack or not.

It is known that no large-scale oil refineries operate in the Smolensk region.
Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine’s UAV attacks of being acts of terrorism.
The Ukrainian side did not officially confirm or deny attacking oil refineries in Russia. But Kiev affirmed that these facilities were legitimate attack targets, while Russia was also attacking many cities and infrastructure, including Ukraine’s energy facilities.
