A fake about communicating only in the Kazakh language is being spread on social networks

Information is being spread on social networks that in Kazakhstan they will be forced to speak only the Kazakh language. Stopfake specialists named the statement is unreliable, reports Liter.kz

A publication appeared on TikTok claiming that the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke strictly about the Kazakh language at the kurultai in Atyrau.

He allegedly said that in Kazakhstan everyone should speak only the Kazakh language and Russians should also learn it. This is fake,” the rebuttal says.

As evidence, they cited the words of the president at the kurultai.

This is what Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said about the state language: “Every year the demand for the Kazakh language, which is becoming the language of business, technology and science, is growing. The best way for the further progressive development of the language lies through education. Today, the share of literature in the Kazakh language in large bookstores has increased. Recently, a new generation of publishers has been translating and publishing many international bestsellers. Not only fiction, but also business literature is translated. The essence of state policy is to, without forcing anyone, to consistently strengthen the role of the Kazakh language in everyday life. Thus, the quote attributed to the president, which is used in the message circulated on social networks, is false.
