Student researcher Mohamed Moaz Shahban discussed his doctoral thesis in English Studies (specialization in translation), entitled “Clarification in Translation… Translation by the Maghreb Arab Press of Moroccan-American cooperation in the field of combating terrorism during the Obama administration.” This discussion was hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences in Mohammedia, affiliated with Hassan II University, under the supervision of Professor Hassan Azrizi.

The thesis, which received a very honorable rating with a recommendation for publication, studied and analyzed the strategy of clarification in translation and its use in an important and diverse group of articles from the Maghreb Arab Press, which concern Moroccan-American cooperation in the field of combating terrorism during the Obama administration (from 2009 to 2017). . It studied and analyzed 57 samples of Arabic translations of original texts in English, concerned with the political, economic, social and cultural aspects related to the fight against terrorism, with the aim of shedding light on the strategies adopted by MAP translators to convey the messages to be passed, and the extent to which translation contributes to strengthening the position of the Kingdom of Morocco and consecrating its presence. In international forums. The thesis also adopted critical discourse analysis with the aim of analyzing the way in which the forces of international relations are embodied through language.

Explicitness means the transition that occurs in the translation process from what is implicit in the original text to what is clear in the target text.
