A confused Biden scared America, while Trump, on the other hand, was extremely convincing, even if he lied brutally

Before this event, President Biden should have shown enough energy and strength to refute arguments that he is too old for another four years in office. On the other hand, Trump should have shown restraint and not displayed his usual erratic manner. Surprisingly, it was Trump who succeeded.

Joe Biden appeared confused and unprepared during the debate. Despite intensive preparations at Camp David, his speech was rambling and often lost its thread. He had no energy, his sentences were disjointed, and he often seemed like he had a frog in his throat.

On the other hand, Donald Trump appeared calm, focused and in control. Even when telling blatant lies, he appeared calm and confident, while Biden’s demeanor appeared confused and frightened. He had an absent-minded look, half-open mouth, failed in the main topics, often turned to the sides as if he was looking for help or was hard of hearing.

Trump appropriated history during the debate, painting his mandate in rosy colors as if his presidency had been a period of prosperity and harmony. When asked about the events of January 6, he ignored the violence and called it a high point in American history. His claim that he had “the biggest heart on this stage” was true, but more in the sense of an enlarged organ.

Unfortunately, Biden took 43 minutes to mention that Trump is a convicted felon, which could have been one of his first points of attack. While he eventually gained some momentum, his insults at Trump, such as “moral freak” or “zero,” felt more like old man cries. Biden also accused Trump of being unfaithful with a porn actress while Melanie was pregnant. This desperate attempt to popularize the debate and ingratiate itself with republican women was reminiscent of the tragic duel in the Czech European elections between Danuša Nerudová and Filip Turk.

Trump, on the other hand, came up with bizarre associations, calling Biden a “Manchurian candidate” and a “very bad Palestinian.” When Biden mentioned that historians had named Trump the worst president, he countered that his own team of historians had named him the best. At one point he even declared, “I didn’t have sex with a porn star,” which added to the absurdity of the whole show.

When the two began to argue about their golf handicap scores, it was clear that despite all efforts at control, the debate had turned sour. Biden appeared exactly as Republicans portrayed him – a confused old man. Trump, despite the disastrous morality and rationality of his presidency, seemed like a relatively normal politician.

Biden did not do well in the debate.

CNN did not do a good job of promoting the debate as important and historic. Hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash seemed more like hosting Surivor’s show than serious journalists. Trump’s lies went largely unchallenged, and the evening ended with a sense of doom about America’s future. Democrats have plenty to think about, with votes expected to emerge to replace Biden.

In conclusion, this debate not only failed to live up to expectations, but showed how low political discussion can sink. Biden has looked like a caricature of Republican cynicism, while Trump has managed to present himself as a relatively stable leader, which is slightly disconcerting to the world.
