If yesterday I said goodbye to the year, after having published 368 articles, today the counter was reset. Well, one with this article I’m writing right now. And this year is shaping up to be a very busy one in our world of technology, and right now I’ve already amassed a list of articles that friends and collaborators have sent me, all of which I’ll have to publish this January. And there is a great upheaval in our world.

For my part, in addition to writing in this corner of “The Side of Evil” – I hope every day – and giving vent to all the articles, news, opinions, conferences, interviews, events, training courses and things that are part of the my life, my main challenge is the first year of Telefónica Digital Innovation.
If for the history of innovation of our company it is an extra step, for our TID it is the beginning of a path full of dreams, projects and objectives to be achieved. A year which for me personally is Delivery Year One, given that we have many projects ahead of us with many launches of new products and services which, logically, I will tell you about here. And Delivery, Delivery, Delivery has been my main KPI for more than 20 years, but you can’t live off last year’s Delivery, so every year it starts over. And this for TID, for a double reason: obviously the project from which we have the most results is Telefónica Open Gateway, which is part of our future strategy not only as a company, but as a sector, so I will dedicate a lot of energy to this initiative on which we are building a lot and which has a deadline with many milestones for the next Mobile World Congress.
We also have many plans for the future of Wayra, which after having had more than ten years and having matured in all its areas of work, in its valuation as a company, in its revenues and in its impact on Telefónica, Last quarter we outlined the next step for her and we hope to be able to announce her evolution soon. Bring innovation to Telefónica, accelerate startups, create game-changers by supporting the most innovative startups and seeking alliances like the ones we have made with LeadWinds or with Iker Casillas and Pau Gasol in the sports sector.
Instead we will have important appointments in the form of events. We will be present at the Mobile World Congress and 4 Years Fron Now. I hope to be at RootedCON and several CONs that I have marked on the calendar that I will tell you about if everything closes. Of course we have OpenExpo Europe 2024, this year dedicated mainly to the world of GenAI, where we already have many confirmed speakers, companies and VIP participants that we will confirm for you. And in October our Innovation Day at TID which will mark many of the “delivery” times of our unit, with launches there to be announced later this year.
Besides this, I will continue with personal projects like 0xWord where we will have 5 new books coming out between now and June – the first very soon -, Cálico Electrónico – which this year will publish comic number three of the strips. – and Singularity Hackers, who will continue to have news and growth plans, with new businesses around them.
Obviously MyPublicInbox is one of the ones you’ll see grow the most. Not only in product, but also in services, reach and expansion. If you follow the evolution of the platform day by day, you will be able to see how it grows in users, functions and company, where this year I will tell you about the next step of our expansion and growth. The iPhone app will definitely arrive, the API to integrate transactions with Tempos into all the services and platforms you want and a reputation analysis service that we have been working on for a month. So in the first semester alone there is a lot of roadmap to cover.
I also marked the celebrations, and this year there are many. The Centenary of Telefónica, the 18th birthday of my blog, the 12 years of Telefónica, and my personal birthday, which I hope to celebrate for the whole month, let it not be said, and obviously the 1st of TID which is the Year ONE delivery . And if I add to this dinners, trips, concerts, films, series and every now and then a run with friends, I have a year full of things to do, which I don’t want to miss for anything in the world. So, from now on, I’m going into Delvery mode, and I succeed, since today is January 1, 2024.
