The caretaker government appointed a completely new composition of the State Information Security Commission, appointed a deputy head of the State Agency “National Security” in the place of the representative of the PP-DB, who was dismissed in April, and dismissed the deputy chairman of the State Agency “Intelligence” on his behalf request.
At its very first meeting, Dimitar Glavchev’s office fired the deputy chairman of DANS Petar Petrov without any reasons. Now the post will be occupied by Georgi Georgiev for a period of time until July 28, 2028. Georgiev is a long-term employee of the agency and meets the requirements of the Law on the State Agency “National Security” for holding the position, according to the government information service.
Also at the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, it was decided to release Kalin Tsekov from the post of Deputy Chairman of the State Intelligence Agency, effective from July 1, 2024. This is done at his request to leave.
A new composition of the State Information Security Commission was also determined. The previous chairman Tsviatko Georgiev and the members Simeon Nikolov, Alexi Alexiev and Ivo Velikov have been released. Reasons for the decision are not given.
The commission is now headed by Petar Groshlev, who has military and police experience. He was a graduate of Vasil Levski VNVU, as well as the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 1987 to 1992, he was a platoon and company commander in the Bulgarian Army. He worked in the field of security and internal order as an employee in the Ministry of Internal Affairs – as a police inspector, head of sector, director of ODMVR – Sofia.
Among the new four members of the DCSI is Ivaylo Konakchiiski, who is also a military man and has held leadership positions in the ministries of defense and the interior, and until now he worked in the prosecutor’s office. The commission includes Bogdan Bogdanov, who graduated from SU “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior. He worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Agency for Refugees.
Two more current employees of DANS become members of DCSI. These are Dinko Lulev, who graduated from the University of Economics – Varna, and Atanas Rajdovski, who has a diploma from the Faculty of Law and History of the “Neofit Rilski” SSU and previously worked in the National Security Service at the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Haskovo.
