A funeral ceremony was held at the Atatürk Cultural Center for master artist Kenan Işık, who passed away in Istanbul at the age of 76. One name did not go unnoticed at the ceremony.

The body of Kenan Işık, who lost his life in a private hospital in Istanbul, was delivered to his family in the morning. Then, Kenan Işık’s body was taken from the hospital and brought to the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) for the first ceremony. Kenan Işık’s coffin, wrapped in the Turkish flag, was taken out of the vehicle and carried to the stage by his relatives. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, General Manager of State Theaters Tamer Karadağlı, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğlu, Kenan Işık’s wife Beril Işık, his children Ahmet and Mehmet Işık, his brother Mehmet Cengiz Işık, his grandson Doruk Işık, Burcu Akar, historian İlber Ortaylı, and artist Zafer Algöz.
IT DID NOT LEAVE THE HEAD OF THE COFFIN
As Kenan Işık’s coffin was being placed on the stage, a name caught attention. It was learned that the name that did not leave the coffin on the stage was Fuat Toprak, Kenan Işık’s friend who had been by his side for years. Toprak, who paid his friend his last respects, did not want to speak at the ceremony.
Mehmet Cengiz, who was devastated by the loss of his brother, said in his tearful speech, “Is there another role model artist like Kenan Işık? He said let me go now… Can and Can have reunited.”
TO BE BURIED TOMORROW
Kenan Işık will be buried in Karşıyaka Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held following the noon prayer at Ankara Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque on Wednesday, July 31.
