Thousands of users in the capital and Greater San Miguel continue without electricity service after the wind and rain storm that hit the province yesterday afternoon. The fall of poles and power lines has caused a huge blackout that, according to Civil Defense figures, affected at least 120,000 users.

The first problems began at noon and worsened in the afternoon and, from that moment on, in different areas of the capital.

The Municipality of the capital and Civil Defense reported on the inconveniences caused by the strong winds, which knocked down poles and mobilized, during the afternoon alone, workers from the EDET company to 37 different points in the province.

Although the electricity supply was partially restored in residential areas, some users state that they have already been without supply for more than 16 hours.

The energy distribution company in the province reported that in the last few hours, different emergency crews resolved the medium voltage supply and that during the morning, they placed emphasis on the low voltage service, which contemplates smaller scale contingencies and which represents specific problems, in different blocks of the province.
