A Bangladeshi named Ohidul Sheikh was arrested by the Indian Border Guard Force (BSF) while smuggling love birds on Valentine’s Day. He was caught while smuggling 20 pairs of birds at Tarali border in Basirhat subdivision of West Bengal.
It has been reported that Ohidul Sheikh was arrested after receiving information from a secret source of the border guards of the 112th battalion of BSF. The 45-year-old trafficker’s home is in Kalia village of Narail district in Bangladesh. Birds are smuggled to Bangladesh from different states in India.
BSF said that the youth has been handed over to Swarupnagar police station. Then the rescued 40 love birds were shifted to Basirhat Forest Department by the BSF jawans.
The smuggler was interrogated and told that a person asked him to take these birds. Ohidul Sheikh said that 1 thousand 847 taka was paid for this work. He was caught while crossing the BSF Duty Dominance Line.
Regarding bird smuggling, Commanding Officer of 153 Battalion Jawahar Singh Negi said that the Border Security Force is taking strict action to stop the smuggling of rare species of birds. Smuggling will not be allowed under any circumstances.
In another incident, BSF arrested a smuggler along with three and a half lakh rupees at the India-Bangladesh border. He was arrested from North 24 Parganas Bangaon ICP Petrapol.
It is known that the money smuggler is a resident of West Chandipur village of North 24 Parganas. In the interrogation, he said that he has been transporting goods from India to Bangladesh for several days in order to earn a living.
The money launderer said he got the money from Tushar Sutradhar of Maa Variety Enterprises. which was supposed to be handed over to Robi Enterprises. He was supposed to get Rs 1,320 for this work.
