According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Tien – Deputy Director of the City Children’s Hospital, child patient HTT Th (female, 5 years old, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) was hospitalized with a crushed left hand due to a firecracker.
Through taking the child’s medical history, on the 3rd day of Tet, the family set off firecrackers in front of the neighbor’s house. Children pick up a cannon to play in the yard. The firecracker exploded, crushing the child’s left hand. The family quickly took the child to the hospital.
Here, doctors noted that the child’s left hand was crushed, the left abdomen had soft tissue damage, and the right thigh had a black burn injury about 3x2cm due to firecracker fragments.
Immediately, the child received emergency treatment for the wound on the left abdomen and right thigh. Particularly, the wound on the left hand was broken and could not be sutured, so it was amputated. Children are given painkillers and antibiotics. To date, the patient has not yet been discharged from the hospital. “Through this case, parents should absolutely not let children play with firecrackers, it is very dangerous, can cause serious damage to body parts, even life. . Parents must comply with the law prohibiting fireworks” – Dr. Tien emphasized.
