A 5-part crime series that every Agatha Christie fan should see

When we talk about literary crime fiction, one of the first names, if not the very first, that comes to mind is Agatha Christie, who wrote twisty stories like Murder on the Orient Expressa Death on the Nile or just the Because there aren’t any more – from which countless memorable films and series were made. The queen of crime fiction has been gone for almost fifty years, but his legacy lives on and countless crime stories are being made that continue his methods. Here are five series that every Agatha Christie fan should see!

True Detective (2014 – )

HBO’s prestige series Reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s writing style, exemplary thriller, with a first-class cast, and made with a professionalism that rivals even a motion picture.

One trait that was taken from Christie was that the writer kept changing her detective:

in one of his works, Hercule Poirot solves the crime, in another, Miss Marple, in the next, Parker Pyne – True Detective is structured in a similar way, which not only introduces new cases from season to season, but it also features new detectives and new locations. The series is HBO’s most popular crime drama, and after the divisive fourth season, a fifth is already in the works.

That Night (2016)

The focus of the mini-series is on a boy accused of murder, who seems very much to be found innocent. That night It drew from the deeper layers of Agatha Christie’s works:

In addition to unraveling the mystery, the writer also sensitively presented how social, moral and public issues are intertwined with the investigation.

That night deals in a similar way with the issue of racism, as Riz Ahmed plays a Muslim man who finds himself facing harsh prejudice when he is accused of murder. The series is full of moral and existential issues, and even long after the closing scenes the viewer wonders if he understood everything correctly.

Night Duty (2016)

Based on the book by John le Carré, the author known for his Cold War spy novels, the miniseries weaves a web of mysteries as if Agatha Christie herself had guided the author’s pen.

One of the writer’s most refined features was that she always questioned the reader’s point of view, her image of heroism.

Tom Hiddleston gives one of the best performances of his career as veteran Jonathan Pine, and Hugh Laurie is creepy as criminal mastermind Richard Roepe. Although the series adapted the novel in its entirety, Hiddleston recently talked about reprising the character in the upcoming new season for Amazon Prime Video.

Easttowni Rejtélyek (2021)

In the Emmy award-winning crime series set in a small New England town Kate Winslet plays a local detective, who investigates the murder of a teenage girl.

Like Agatha Christie’s best works, Easttown Mysteries examines the impact of a shocking murder on the life of the community.

The series is one of those rare crime novels that the ending is particularly optimistic, as the characters learn from their mistakes and seem to take the first step towards a better life. There have been rumors of a sequel for a while, but it would be a shame to spoil such a perfect ending.

What is a Diseny+ Star Wars series looking for on this list? That

The acolyte is not at all similar to the other Star Wars series: it is closer to Agatha Christie’s mysteries than to the action-adventure theme characteristic of the franchise.

The series takes place nearly a decade before the classic Star Wars trilogy, and follows the investigation of a group of Jedi: one of them was murdered, which may be related to Return of the Sith. Although the tone of the series is unusual divided fans, but it’s definitely worth watching, if only for the solution to the mystery, which is just as surprising as in a good Agatha Christie crime novel.
