Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, Salvador Nasralla, publicly asked for a repeat of the presidential elections in Honduras. He did it during a live broadcast, in the middle of the special scrutiny.

Nasralla affirmed that the electoral process is “totally false” and claimed to have evidence of electoral fraud. According to his statement, there are minutes that have not been counted deliberately.

In addition, he warned that he will not accept an official result if a winner is proclaimed before the close of the special scrutiny. He maintained that the authorities seek to prevent the complete review of the minutes.

The proposal to repeat the elections generated immediate rejection within the Liberal Party itself. Liberal leaders and deputies distanced themselves from Nasralla’s position.

The former president of the Central Executive Council of the Liberal Party (CCEPLH), Yani Rosenthal, reiterated his opposition to a new presidential election. He assured that this position clearly represents the institutional line of the party.

Rosenthal pointed out that the Liberal Party must respect the rules of the electoral process. He indicated that it is appropriate to continue with the special scrutiny and exhaust existing legal resources.

In his statement, Rosenthal stated that repeat elections have no legal basis at this time. He argued that ignoring an ongoing process is contradictory and dangerous.

“The only one interested in repeating elections is Libre,” he declared, pointing out that this party seeks to break the constitutional order. According to Rosenthal, the institutional path requires respecting the stages of the electoral process.

He also warned that discrediting the conduct of the elections weakens democratic institutions. He insisted that the rule of law offers legal mechanisms to resolve electoral disputes.

Liberal deputies reinforce the rejection
Liberal deputy Maribel Espinoza categorically rejected any attempt to repeat the general elections in Honduras. He affirmed that this proposal responds to political interests outside the democratic order.

“No to the repetition of general elections to help Libre destroy democracy,” said the parliamentarian. He added that the current context tests the coherence of political leadership.

Espinoza recalled that all parties accepted the electoral rules before the elections. He stressed that the Liberal Party submitted to the process under that legal framework.

Political tension and effects in the country
Nasralla’s statements come in a context of high political tension due to the special scrutiny. The process has been marked by complaints, blockades and confrontations between political actors.

Analysts point out that the call to repeat elections increases institutional uncertainty. They also warn that this approach can deepen political polarization in Honduras.

Meanwhile, electoral authorities continue to review the minutes. The development of special scrutiny remains the central mechanism to resolve electoral disputes.
