President Nayib Bukele inaugurated 70 schools this Sunday as part of the “Two Schools per Day” program and confirmed the construction of another 254, with an investment of more than $60 million that will benefit more than 11,000 students.
The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, made official this Sunday the delivery of 70 completely new schools in different departments of the country, as part of the progress of the “Two Schools per Day” program, promoted by the Government to transform the national educational infrastructure.
During the event, the president highlighted that, in addition to the inaugurated schools, there are 254 educational centers in the process of construction, which adds up to 324 institutions intervened in total to date.
«These 70 schools are real, not models or promises. In addition, 254 more are already under construction, and as the program continues, two new ones will begin tomorrow,” said Bukele.
The head of state stressed that the projects do not include the works carried out before the launch of the program, but are part of a structural transformation of the Salvadoran educational system, which will continue in the coming years.
The reconstruction and building works have been carried out with the support of inmates in the trust phase of the “Yo Cambio” program, together with the Municipal Works Directorate (DOM) and other government institutions.
Bukele reported that the investment destined for the 70 schools amounts to $61 million, benefiting students from Santa Ana, Ahuachapán, Sonsonate, La Libertad, San Salvador and San Miguel.
“The fact that there are still schools in poor condition demonstrates the country we inherited, but also the country we are rebuilding,” said the president.
The “Two Schools a Day” program seeks to rehabilitate and modernize two schools every business day, including the renovation of classrooms, electrical systems, toilets, libraries, fields and other key spaces for learning.
With this initiative, the Government plans to renew the entire public educational network, guaranteeing better conditions for teachers and thousands of Salvadoran students.
