Forty-four Malagasy football stars received financial aid from the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) yesterday, including a share of the “prize money” for CHAN 2024. A recurring gesture, welcomed by the beneficiaries, who are calling for continued support.
Yesterday, at the federal headquarters in Isoraka, the Malagasy Football Federation presented financial aid to 44 former emblematic players of Malagasy football, grouped within the association of “former glories”. These legends, who have worn the national colors high over the years, benefited from a share of the “prize money” won by the Barea during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the end of which the national team won the title of African vice-champion. The president of the FMF, Alfred Randriamanampisoa, insisted on the annual nature of this initiative: “ This support continues each year to honor those who have made our football proud “. The association, officially created on August 21 and legally recognized, is chaired by Maître Kira. Currently ill, he was represented by his vice-president, Abdou, who expressed his gratitude to the federation. “ Discussions took place last December with the president of the FMF on aid from FIFA intended for former players. It’s done today “, said Abdou.
Towards the future
The association brings together not only former Bareas, but also figures like Jeremy, Do, Voaja, René Kely, Joel and many others. It is open to all former pre-selected national teams (Club M, Scorpions, Barea) over 60 years old, including those based abroad, such as Frédéric in Reunion or others in Mauritius. “ We neglect no one and do not favor some over others. », added Abdou. Beyond immediate aid, members are pleading for continuity: issuance of permanent cards to alumni, integration of a representative into the governing bodies of the FMF, and strengthening of the association’s role in the governance of Malagasy football. “ We are counting on you to change things and see the reality of the country at this difficult time. With Master Kira and Abdou, but also Jeremy, Do, Voaja… we form a united family “, they concluded, thanking the FMF for this “helping hand” in difficult times.
