Next Saturday, September 13, Villanueva will dress in gala to start version 47 of the Cradeones Cuna Festival, one of the most emblematic cultural events in Colombia. With a tour that exceeds five kilometers, the inaugural parade promises to be a show of color, music and tradition, in which this year a tribute meaning to the vicaries, women who have left a deep mark on the history and folklore of the municipality will be paid.
The streets of Villanueva will be filled with comparsas, folk groups, traditional dances and artistic manifestations that reaffirm the festival’s commitment to the preservation of the vallenato and the cultural roots of La Guajira. This parade is not only a festive starting point, but also an act of recognition of the cultural diversity and legacy of the communities that have forged the Villanuevera identity.
The Cradeons Cuna Festival is much more than a musical contest: it is a meeting space where tradition is present in each chord, each dance and each smile. Declared Cultural and Artistic Heritage of the Nation and part of the Special Safeguard Plan of the Vallenato as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the cradle of accordions has established itself as an international showcase of vallenato folklore and the cultural wealth of La Guajira.
This year, Villanueva reaffirms their invitation to their own and visitors to live a unique experience, in which the hospitality of their people, the strength of the tradition and greatness of the vallenato merge into a celebration that transcends borders.
Villanueva awaits you, because the vallenato is our identity and the cradle festival of accordions its greatest expression.
