Agent Parker commands the MI6 team. Charismatic, funny and courageous, he kicks for his team and cares about the success of every mission. In the latest one, in addition to completing tasks, he tries to get Stone to open up more. She develops a relationship with him and the other members of the team, and this begins to complicate her work for Charter, an international spy agency so secret that only a handful of people know about its existence… How did Parker play the Irish actor, model and musician Jamie Dornan, best known in our country for the movie version of the hit book Fifty Shades (of Grey, Darkness, Freedom)? “I would say one of the things that drew me to this project was the epic scope of it,” he told Blesku. What else attracted you to the role of Agent Parker?
“I am a person who is looking for new challenges. I always try to surpass myself and try new art forms. I had a sniff of the action genre, but not on this scale, so I wanted to experience what it was like. I’m so glad I got to work with someone like Tom Harper, who has done amazing work in so many different genres in his directorial career. I knew it wasn’t going to be just an action movie. At the beginning, I talked with Tom about how to give the Parker character a soul and not make him just a shallow action figure. That appealed to me. And also that I was able to work with great actors and a great team. Actually, the whole experience was absolutely fantastic.’
Parker is a very complex character. Who is he and what motivates him?
“Parker is interesting because you think you know him, but then he turns out to be someone completely different. That’s what I enjoy as an actor, when I can have more positions and be part of a shocking plot twist. Parker is a smart guy, a very capable agent. You root for him. He has an idealistic idea of how the world should look, but it is different from what the audience imagines. A few things that happen change his outlook on life and he ends up turning against the organizations he works for. He is driven by something completely different – he is not interested in doing the right thing and helping people, but in power, money and revenge. He cares about these things. The viewer then gets to know a completely different, disgusting, evil side of him, which he does not expect at the beginning.”
What was it like working with Gal Gadot?
“My opinion is that action films with female protagonists are few and far between. Gal Gadot is a pioneer in this direction. It’s not the only movie she’s been in, and I think Wonder Woman was a landmark in action movies. Her success, her ambition, her job well done, her magnetism, and the cool, badass Gal, all of it made people say, This is just a great movie. There should be more of them.”
So what is she like?
“Unbelievable. She just can do it. He has incredible charisma. It’s hard to take on the responsibility of a film of this magnitude, but I think Gal did it. She has spent the last eight years working on huge projects where she has to win over the audience to the point where they want to take her hand off her. So it was a pleasure to watch her and I tried to learn something from her. I’m Irish. And the Irish often have a problem with self-confidence, so to see someone who can walk on stage and be a hero with everything is quite something. It’s inspiring to be around someone who radiates such energy.”

It was your first big action film. Did you do the stunts yourself?
“If it were up to me, I would do all the stunts myself. I am an active person. I turned 40 while working on this film and that probably motivated me even more to prove to myself that my body still works pretty well. So I did all the stunts I could do – mostly rope and harness work. Stunt work is very technical. It’s dangerous and takes years to learn and master, so I had to leave some scenes to the team. To Joe McLaren’s great team. I also enjoyed the fight scenes with Gal and Enzo. Enzo and I fought in the cable car when she was coming down the mountains in Italy. It felt like forever, but it was fun. My fight scene with Gal was unforgettable.’

If you could do any movie stunt in real life and knew you would survive, what would it be?
“I’d probably like to do one of those motorcycle stunts that Gal or Jon do. I don’t even touch the motorcycle in the movie. In real life, whenever I mentioned getting a motorcycle to my wife, the roof was on fire. And by the way, I agree with her that it is dangerous. I don’t think it would go well. But as they say – the forbidden fruit tastes the best. That’s why I always wanted to try it in front of the camera. So I wouldn’t choose any of my stunts, but the one Gal did on the motorcycle. Unfortunately, my character didn’t get to do that.”
What do you think your family, friends and especially the audience will like most about this movie?
“It is an epic, exciting and entertaining film. It’s something we all need, so I hope to enjoy a fresh addition to a genre that people think they already know. They will be surprised that it has heart. And I’m also really looking forward to when my kids are a little older and they can watch this action spy thriller with a female protagonist, because I think it’s important that they see someone like Gal who is not only smart and beautiful, but can also canvas to really kick the other’s ass.”
