The Minister of Public Health of the Province, Luis Medina Ruizreported this Wednesday that in the country there are more than 40,000 cases of dengue and in Tucumán more than 650, all counted and positive by laboratory.

“A new Situation Room was held, like every week, and regarding dengue in Tucumán we have exceeded 650 laboratory confirmed cases. We have more than 40,000 cases in Argentina of the Dengue 1 and Dengue 2 variants. Most of the cases are outpatients. We have 10 patients hospitalized, not in serious condition, but under observation, due to low platelets, due to dehydration, but all under control,” said Medina Ruiz.

The official stressed the “request to avoid self-medication, not to take any medication other than paracetamol to alleviate fever or body pain.”

“Let us remember that diclofenac, ibuprofen, aspirin and dipyrone can interact with coagulation and act negatively by reducing the number of platelets. If this occurs, the risk of suffering from a serious illness increases,” he added.

Finally, Medina Ruiz insisted on “avoiding having mosquito breeding grounds in our homes and at our jobs. There are sensitive areas such as the patio, the back of the house, the nearby squares. We are doing focus control in each of the homes. This whole weekend we worked very intensely. Now we have to hope that there may be an increase in cases because there was a lot of movement of people for the carnival, for vacations, for tourism, to the north and from the north to Tucumán. So we have to prepare and fundamentally make an early consultation. In each of our offices, our guards, we first do the laboratory to confirm the disease and on the other hand, in addition to evaluating the hydration status, a laboratory evaluation of the platelets and white blood cells through a blood count. On the other hand, with respect to covid-19 there is a leveling off of positivity.”

“Today that positivity is above 25%, at this moment we have mild cases, there are no serious patients hospitalized and we ask again that we update our vaccination schedule,” he concluded.

In turn, the lawyer Rita Ivanovich He commented that “basically today we are addressing the issue of dengue in particular. At first we show the situation in Argentina, in which it could be seen that so far there is a record of more than 40,000 cases between native, imported and under investigation. “There are 14 jurisdictions that present viral circulation, which belong to the Central Region, all the jurisdictions of the NEA Region and five jurisdictions of the NOA Region.”

“Tucumán continues to report positive cases in the last week and basically what is sought is to urge the population to take precautions at an individual level such as the constant use of repellent to avoid mosquito bites and timely consultation,” he concluded. .
