All the ‘Harry Potter’ stars we’ve lost

Early this year Harry Potter fans may rejoice: the young wizard’s story will be turned into a TV series.

It comes with the “Harry Potter” reveal.

But as “everyone” knows, the books have already been made into movies, and for many it has become almost as important a holiday tradition as watching other classic Christmas movies.

More than 12 years have passed since the premiere of the last film in the series and since then a lot has happened in the lives of the actors.

While many have continued their acting careers with more or less success, there are others who have abandoned life in Hollywood.

There is also a long line of actors behind the famous people who died after filming.

Over the years, fans have had to say goodbye to as many as 23 actors behind major and minor roles.

Earlier this year, September to be precise, Michal Gambon passed away, at the age of 82. He played the role of Dumbledore from the third to eighth films.

He took over the role of the powerful headmaster of Hogwarts, following the death of Richard Harris in October 2002, aged 72. Harris played the role of Dumbledore in the first two films.

The star of “Harry Potter” has died.

In 2016, fans had to say an eternal goodbye to Alan Rickman, who played the iconic role of the mysterious Professor Severus Slur.

After suffering a stroke in 2015, doctors discovered that Rickman had incurable pancreatic cancer. He died of cancer at the age of 69. He kept his cancer hidden from the public and the disease only became known at the same time as his death.

Unfortunately, Rickman isn’t the only popular actor to die after filming. Robbie Coltrane is also dead. The man who brought one of the series’ most beloved characters to life, Rubeus Gygrid, is among the most beloved characters in the “Harry Potter” universe, with his goofy and strange personality.

Robbie Coltrane brought the character to life on the big screen. He died in October 2022, aged 72.

It quickly became clear to Galvort that the young wizard didn’t get along particularly well with Smygard’s student Draco Malfang (played by Tom Felton, ed.). They quickly became “enemies”.

Shocking transformation

Draco’s mother, Narsissa Malfang, appears later in the series and plays a minor, but central, role in the later films. Helen McCrory played the character. She lost her battle with cancer in 2021, at just 52 years old.

Another minor but still central role is that of wandmaker Garrick Ollivander. The man who gave Potter his first wand was played by John Hurt. He died in 2018, aged 77.

Not everyone can play big, central roles, with lots of TV time. Over the course of the seven books and eight films, fans and audiences were introduced to many minor characters.
