The two friends from Lucerne will present their first album together on Friday.

It’s called “Loser with Fame” and is meant to be a statement for the scene.

A song about their friend Bouba is particularly close to his heart.
Mimiks and LCone, your new album is called “Loser with Fame”. Why do you call yourselves losers?
LCone: This reflects our situation. Sometimes we feel like the hottest post-festival acts and sometimes like the last creep on public transport in the morning.
Mimicry: It’s a statement. You can be an amazing rapper without having a gigantic ego. We’re not always the sickest, baddest kids. Anyone who says that has a very stressful life.
In an interview you, Mimiks, said that you managed to free yourself from your role in this album. What did you mean by this?
Mimics: I became known as a violent rapper with sick jokes. But this is only part of who I am. But I also have something creative and other subjects in me that I had never pushed before. With LCone I was able to express myself in this sense.
How was it for you, LCone?
LCone: Fantastic. I’ve known Mimiks for a long time and I knew he had this side too. Mimiks contributed a lot of ideas to the album that people now probably attribute to me because I always used slightly different themes and sound images than usual in Swiss rap. For example, he came up with an idea for a song about a couple who broke up at Europa Park. After 15 years of rapping, we wanted to tackle topics that no one had ever covered before.
I guess it’s more challenging than praising yourself and looking down on others.
LCone: I don’t think so. I find it more challenging to always write the same rap and spit openly: I’m almost on the verge of a nervous breakdown. All the rappers in this country have said a thousand times how badass they are. I find it much more difficult to bring something new into it.
This seems to bore you.
Mimicry: Totally. Rappers don’t dare to do anything, they are always afraid of being embarrassed. That’s why everything is so brutally repetitive. LCone has initiated a change in the scene.
He raps in one song on the album: “I’m a mix of Hänni and ChueLee.” What do you mean by this?
LCone: This is a self-deprecating topic with me. ChueLee is a folk music group. Compared to supposedly real rappers, in their eyes I am sometimes closer to Luca Hänni than to them. Lines bordering on stupidity also appeared on the album, such as: “Shit, still stupid, this makes you want to go out into the forest.”
You dedicated a song to your friend Bouba. In it you tell the story of the escape of the Guinean, who currently lives in Switzerland as an undocumented citizen. Are you becoming activists?
Mimicry: no. The issue of immigration is extremely complicated. The song comes from a deep need in our hearts.
Your Wikipedia entry says you dated influencer Anja Zeidler for two years. Was the report so important to you that it had to be featured there?
Mimiks: No, but it doesn’t stress me out that it’s there either. I don’t know who wrote it. The entry should still be added.
What you’re missing?
Mimiks: Gold record for the song “Forever Never”, sold out tours…
LCone: We want to be crude in the Wikipedia article. After all, no one is interested in Swiss rappers, so we can probably bluff like idiots.
