Bird Fishing Competition Held

The “8th Traditional Bird Angling Competition”, traditionally organized every year by Kocasinan Municipality, was held.

During the two-day competition held at Kuşçu Marina on the Yamula Dam Lake, special activity areas were built for children and campfires were lit.

Speaking at the event, Governor Gökmen Çiçek said that they were working to introduce Yamula to Turkey.

Çiçek stated that they, as the Governorship, support the work of Kocasinan Municipality and the district governorship, and that they also make efforts to protect natural life.

Governor Çiçek noted the following:

“We want Kayseri’s sea to be joyful, not deserted and silent. 3.5 million trees were planted with the cooperation of the Regional Directorate of Forestry, the Governor’s Office and the municipality. Another 1.5 million will be planted immediately when the next season starts. We promised to plant 10 million trees in Kayseri. We will make this place green. Maybe we won’t see it in 4-5 years, but it will be green. We are doing everything to develop this region. Who said Kayseri doesn’t have a sea, it has a honey-like sea. 1 million 130 thousand fish were released. The same number will be caught this year.”

Kocasinan Mayor Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar said that they were carrying out works to revitalize social life in various areas of the city.

Çolakbayrakdar, who stated that they were carrying out afforestation and greening activities in the region, said, “We are also carrying out activities to add tent and caravan camps or other camps that can be built in natural life to this region from now on. It is in our program to reveal these areas and build camp areas within the next business year program. When we come together here next year, we will come together with such events.”

In the event, awards were given to the 20 people who caught the most and largest fish among perch, pike perch and carp out of 250 competitors who participated in the competition in 6 categories.
