The Circle of Sports Journalists of Loja (CPDL) commemorated its 50th anniversary, exalting the career of those who have contributed to communication and society by reporting on Loja sports. There were recognitions for the former presidents and founders of the association.
History
According to history, the Circle of Sports Journalists of Loja was founded on September 8, 1974, after a meeting of a group of friends, including: Mauro Robles, Carlos Garrido Luna, Edgar Canelos, David Moncayo, Bolívar Monteros, Gonzalo Sotomayor, Alberto Sánchez, Roosevelt Barrazueta, Oswaldo Saritama, and Adriano López Mejía.
According to the current president of the association, Washington González Estrella, this year they celebrated their Golden Anniversary, of this entity that has become the voice of those who do not have a voice for athletes in each of their disciplines. “As an entity we have shown our growth in the inclusion of women, who have decided to join the members who remain over time, even every year the number of members grows and in that area we have not rested with the objective of integrating more members,” he said.
Training has also been part of the effort to professionalize its members.

At the same time, he said that they have been working on reforming the statutes with the Ministry of Labor so that in the following months they can call for elections and the new president can work as well or much better than the current board of directors.
Tribute
In the same context, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary, there was a tribute to several journalists: Roosevelt Barrazueta León, Elvis Merino, Gonzalo Ojeda, Telmo Jaramillo, Oswaldo Saritama and David Moncayo, who have contributed with their contributions to Loja sports journalism and their commitment to the dissemination of the exploits of local athletes.
At the same time, they highlighted that in the intermediate communication games they pay tribute to members who have been founders, former presidents and people of great worth who have contributed with a grain of sand to communication and to the Loja society.
For his part, Telmo Jaramillo, on behalf of all those honored, said that he loves the passion of sports communication and hopes to serve children, young people and the entire social conglomerate in sports in some way. We will continue to be present until the very last moment.(D).
