Mural of missing detainee reinaugurated in Playa Ancha – 2024-08-31 12:47:33

As part of the Popular Memory Workshops developed by the Valparaíso Cultural Park – Ex Cárcel, together with the community of Porvenir de Playa Ancha, this Friday a mural of a detainee who disappeared from the sector, kidnapped during the dictatorship, will be reinaugurated, and around whose memory the residents continue to meet periodically “to keep the memory alive and to delve deeper into the importance of human rights and the preservation of the living stories of our history.”

This was reported by the directors of Parque Cultural and the person who has promoted these community workshops in the area, Walkiria Jorquera, from the Memory, Heritage and Human Rights Unit of PCdV.

The meeting, which coincides with the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearance, will be attended by regional authorities, including the regional minister of Justice, Paula Gutiérrez.

In 1976, Lila Valdenegro Carrasco, a 48-year-old seamstress, lived in the Enrique Tornero neighborhood of Porvenir. From there she was kidnapped on September 2 at 11:00 p.m.

According to the testimonies of neighbors, the arrest was made by four armed DINA agents who were traveling in a blue Peugeot car, without a license plate. Since that date, she has been detained and disappeared. That same night during curfew hours, her house was raided and ransacked by plainclothes and uniformed agents, according to the information provided by the residents.

In his memory, Parque Cultural created a mural together with the neighbors very close to the place of the kidnapping, a collective work that after two destructions will be painted again this Friday and reopened.

According to active community leaders in the sector, Alonzo Delgado and Olga Jeria, the relevance of these workshops and work in the territories is essential, “to continue insisting on the path of truth, justice and reparation.”

At the same time, the organizations, together with Parque Cultural, have formally requested the Seremi of Justice that Quebrada Los Lúcumos, close to this site in Playa Ancha, be incorporated into the National Search Plan, since there are testimonies and witnesses that confirm the existence of bones in this space.
