FBI Announces Weapon Used to Kill Donald Trump

CALIFORNIA – Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) released a new photo of the gun used to shoot Donald Trump when the US presidential candidate attended a rally last July in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The images were released Wednesday as FBI officials provided new details about Thomas Matthew Crooks’ Internet searches in the days before the shooting and how investigators used those searches to understand what was on Crooks’ mind on the day of the shooting.

The photos show a collapsible gun stock, which investigators say may have been used to hide weapons at the scene.

The FBI on Wednesday also explained how the attackers who tried to kill Trump had conducted an in-depth study of the campaign events of the former US president and President Joe Biden.

However, the attackers placed “excessive focus” on a rally in Pennsylvania located just 40 minutes from his home.

Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, explained how the shooter saw the Trump rally as a “target of opportunity.”

But officers have not identified a motive other than providing information, Crooks did not display a “clear ideology”.

“Through that analysis, we saw everything about him (the shooter) especially his online searches, his detailed ongoing efforts to plan an attack on some event, meaning he looked at any event or target,” Rojek said.

“And then, when this event was announced, the Trump campaign announced it, in early July, he became very focused on the event and saw it as a target of opportunity.”
