Peru faces Turkey for fifth place in the U-17 Volleyball World Cup

The Peruvian team will try to secure fifth place in the world tournament in a key match against Turkey. The match will be played at the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum.

This Friday, August 23, the Peruvian U-17 volleyball team will face Türkiye in an exciting match for fifth place in the 2024 U-17 Volleyball World Cup. The match will take place at the Eduardo Dibos Coliseum at 7:30 pm (Peruvian time), and will be broadcast live on ATV and TV Perú, offering fans the opportunity to follow every moment of this crucial encounter.

Peru comes into this match after an outstanding performance in the group stage, where, despite losing its first match against Brazil, it managed to recover with convincing victories over Canada and the Dominican Republic. This performance allowed it to qualify in second place in Group A, advancing confidently to the round of 16. At this stage, the Peruvian team beat Argentina in a close match that was decided in five sets, one of the most exciting of the tournament. However, the Bicolor was unable to maintain the same level in the quarterfinals, where it was defeated by Japan, which left it out of the fight for the podium.

Turkey, meanwhile, has proven to be a strong opponent, being placed in Group B alongside Thailand, Ecuador and China. In its debut, the Turkish team clearly beat Ecuador, but then suffered a defeat against China. In its third match of the group stage, it once again showed its power by beating Thailand. In the round of 16, Turkey advanced without difficulty after defeating Puerto Rico, but in the quarterfinals, like Peru, it was eliminated by Italy, which led it to play this match for fifth place.

The match between Peru and Turkey promises to be an intense duel, with both teams looking to close their participation in the U-17 World Cup in the best possible way. Peruvian captain Ariana Vásquez, along with libero Liana Torres, are emerging as key figures for the team, after their outstanding performances in previous matches.
