“Canoe races” were held in Çankırı within the scope of the 3rd International Salt Festival.
Canoe races were organized in 4 categories by Çankırı Municipality in the Yamuçlar area on the Tatlı Çay passing through the city center.
Following the eliminations held throughout the day, the competitors rowed in the finals and many citizens shared their excitement.
Governor Mustafa Fırat Taşolar, Çankırı Mayor İsmail Hakkı Esen and Bar Association President Mustafa Deniz presented awards to the winners of the competition.
Çankırı Mayor İsmail Hakkı Esen, in his statement here, said that a first was experienced in Çankırı and that they organized canoe races.
Esen stated that they planned such an event within the scope of the festival and that it received great interest, and noted the following:
“I did not expect this much interest, we started at 9 in the morning and now the final competition will be held. There is great interest. Actually, I was hesitant about whether it would happen or not, my friends said let’s do it. We cleaned the stream, it was a nice activity, everyone had a lot of fun. There was great participation. People, regardless of age, from young to children, from 70 years old, asked if they could compete. This made me very happy. Our aim is, if our people are happy, we are happy, if we can contribute to this a little, how happy we are.”
Vahid Melek, one of the citizens, also stated that he saw such an event for the first time in Çankırı and said, “We would like to see more of such events and activities. We can usually see these events in different cities and on the seaside, but it is pleasing to see such an event in such a small city in the heart of Anatolia.”
