Typhoon Jongdari Causes Massive Flooding in Japan and China

Typhoon “Jongdari”, moving from the Pacific Ocean, covered Japan and China, causing significant destruction, Liter.kz reports with reference to Mir24.tv.

In Japan, especially in Tokyo, the disaster had catastrophic consequences.

“Streets and metro stations were flooded, the flow of water washed away sewer manholes, and the entrances to the metro resemble waterfalls. Heavy rains also hampered public transport and led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights. Motorists are facing difficulties, many cars had to be pulled out of flooded streets,” the publication reports.

In China, a typhoon caused torrential rains, leading to floods and landslides.

“Western areas of Liaoning Province are suffering from destructive floods that have flooded roads and destroyed dams and bridges. More than seven thousand people have been evacuated by helicopters, and about 500 rescuers and the necessary equipment have been sent to the region,” the media outlet said.

A storm warning has also been issued in Primorye. Streets in Vladivostok have already begun to flood, and forecasters predict significant precipitation in the next two days.

Today, August 22, a lake in Kyrgyzstan also burst. The population of two villages was urgently evacuated.
