Travelers wanting to travel to Amsterdam North by public transport in the coming days should expect delays. This is due to the flooded subway tunnel and the collapse of the ferry dock platform.

The problems arose yesterday afternoon, writes NH. Then the metro tunnel that runs from Amsterdam Center to the North filled with water due to a broken pipe. The subway movement was therefore interrupted. Transport company GVB expects the timetable to be restored only on Sunday. Until then, shuttle buses will run between the North metro stop and Amsterdam Central Station.

Dilapidated dock

Another way to get to Amsterdam North from the city center is to take the ferry across the IJ. But since the dock of one of the moorings in that part of the city collapsed today, ferries can no longer dock there. The GVB expects the repair work to take at least two days. Travelers are advised to travel with a different ferry.

But after today it’s even a little more difficult: GVB has taken five of the fourteen ferries out of service due to technical problems. One of them will probably be able to be used again on Friday, the recovery of the other four will take about two weeks.
