  • The HP-X was first presented at the 1984 Turin Motor Show.

  • You can see it live at the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach.

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, one of the most prestigious car shows in the United States, begins on August 18. The event will feature countless vintage, concept and new cars in pristine condition. Honda is also making steam, and not just anything: they have restored their very first concept car, the 1984 Honda HP-X.

The manufacturer’s HP-X Concept was originally presented at the 1984 Turin Motor Show, signaling the company’s intention to launch a mid-engined supercar – which eventually became the NSX.

The concept car had a two-liter V6, which was based on the Honda F2 engine. The design of the manufacturer’s nearly 4.2-meter-long and 1.1-meter-high car was designed by Pininfarina, which has no doors, instead the one-piece Plexiglas roof must be removed. HP-X is special cheese grater its design is what it is because of aerodynamics and innovative engine cooling solutions.

The design of the interior of the two-seater car can already be called retro-futuristic, in which, in addition to the digital instrument unit and central display, there is also real-time telemetry, GPS and a “special sonar” system that monitors road conditions.

Honda did not detail how long it took to restore the concept car, but based on the photos, it was kept in pretty good condition. Apart from the mandatory cleaning, it was repainted, but the original colors were used.
