Publika.az German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz said this.
“Everything we do, the issues of arms control, are discussed by the world’s great powers. The moment must come when we agree with each other on the reduction of arms and leave the arms race,” the chancellor stressed.
At the same time, Scholtz said that Russia has withdrawn from all disarmament agreements and that Germany must respond to this: “Therefore, we must be so strong that no one attacks us.”
It should be noted that on July 10, the joint statement of the United States and Germany states that in 2026, Washington will begin deploying new firearms with a longer range than those currently deployed in Europe on German territory. Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, said that such plans by Washington increase the possibility of a missile arms race and could lead to uncontrolled escalation.
