Poor families can travel to Efteling for free: “It’s great!”

It is difficult for poor people to go out for a day. For this reason, Efteling and the Leergeld Foundation invite families and people with financial problems to come to the park for a day free of charge. “It’s amazing!” says Marwa Mohamed, who visits the park with her family.

This Saturday, a total of 150 people were able to visit Efteling for free. “A day out can cost more than 200 euros,” says Marwa. “With food, even getting here by bus and with the entrance fee. It’s very expensive and difficult to do with concessions.”

80,000 tickets per year
Efteling and the Leergeld Foundation say that over the next five years the park will provide eighty thousand tickets a year to families with financial problems. They also want to give them the chance to spend a carefree day in the park.

“I really appreciate it,” Marwa says. “My children are very happy with it. Other families are happy with it too. A family should do something every now and then, because this is good for the children. They need opportunities to see everything and to go out.”
