Sandiaga’s visit to the village which is the gateway to the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area is part of a series of visits to the 50 best tourist villages of the 2024 Indonesian Best Tourism Village Award (ADWI).
Before arriving at Balkondes Wanurejo, Sandiaga was greeted by the Kang Gareng dance at Candi Pawon, Dusun Bronjolanan. Then, Sandiaga went to the Rengginang Bu Yatin UMKM location using a VW.
Here, Sandiaga saw firsthand the process of making rengginang, a snack made from sticky rice. After shopping for souvenirs typical of Wanurejo Tourism Village, the journey continued to the last location, namely Balkondes Wanurejo.
Throughout the journey, Sandiaga was presented with a panorama of rice fields with Menoreh Hill and Mount Merapi in the background, making anyone who saw it enchanted by its beauty. This is a tourist attraction that is a shame to miss.
Upon arrival at Balkondes Wanurejo, Sandiaga was greeted with an ireng mask dance that tells about Wanurejo. He also had a chance to see a variety of UMKM products in the pavilion ranging from crafts, culinary, fashion.
In addition, Sandiaga, who is also the Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kabaparekraf), also planted a longan tree in the westernmost area of Balkondes Wanurejo.
“Of the 6,016 tourist villages that are members of Jadesta, Wanurejo apparently has many advantages. I saw it directly from rengginang to Pawon Temple. And I hope all places collaborate to support Wanurejo,” said Sandiaga.
