Deák tér entrance gates will be demolished – Articles

The demolition of the entrance gates located at the Sütő utca exit of the Deák Ferenc tér station of the M2 metro line has begun.

The works started on June 28. THE Budapest Transport Center (BKK) according to your information “removal of the gates established in 2017 to implement the electronic ticket system in Budapest” expected to take 3 weeks. During the works, pedestrians can use the Sütő utca exit undisturbed.

“In March of this year, after ten years, the case surrounding the failed e-ticket system in Budapest came to an end. Following the verdict of the International Court of Arbitration, the German company Scheidt & Bachmann paid BKK 5,950,000 euros for breach of contract committed, due to which BKK legally terminated the business contract signed in 2014″.

Most of the demolition work will take place during the nighttime downtime of the subway. Dismantled gates cannot be used for anything else, so the company treats them as waste in accordance with the relevant regulations.
