Spain started the match quickly and almost scored in the first minute through Pedri’s effort, but his shot was still anticipated by Manuel Neuer. La Furia Roja had another chance through Lamine Yamal’s free kick in the 12th minute, but unfortunately it was just wide of the goal. Fabian Ruiz also tried from distance but it went wide of the bar.

Spain again dominated the start of the second half and finally managed to score through Dani Olmo who made use of a pass from Lamine Yamal in the 51st minute. Germany tried to catch up and almost equalized through Robert Andrich in the 67th minute, but Unai Simon managed to thwart it.
Germany’s efforts finally paid off in the 89th minute when Florian Wirtz scored a spectacular volley from a cross. The score remained 1-1 until the end of normal time, forcing the match into extra time.
