Marek Eben was born in 1957 and his acting career began already in the late 1960s. From childhood he grew up in acting and musical environment. His father was the well-known music composer Petr Eben and his uncle was another Czech composer Ilja Hurník. Mark’s brothers Kryštof and David also became famous in the same field.

It became Mark’s first major role Roller in the series Friends from 1969. He was twelve years old at the time. Since then, he began to appear on television in a number of fairy tales and family films. For example, he played in the fairy tale About the Lazy John, About the Brave Princess Jana, About the Poor Kingdom or in Blue-Eyed Cat.
When work is fun
His love for film and music was huge, so it was no surprise that he applied to study at the conservatory. He successfully completed this and accepted a job in Vítězslav Nezvala Theater. In 1983, he became a member of the Prague Theater Studio Ypsilonin which he remained until 2002. He founded a music group with his brothers The Eben Brothers, with which they released several successful albums. He also composed music for theater productions such as Othello, Matěj Poctivý and Winter’s Tale.
He also began to become known to the public as a presenter. In the years 1991–2001, he hosted the show You youas a presenter, he appeared in a historical competition on Czech television About the treasure of Anežka Českáthen presented an entertainment program on Nova TV Russian roulette. He has had his own talk show since 1998 At the swimming pool and recently it is mainly associated with a dance show StarDancewho moderates together with Tereza Kostková.
Every summer you can see him on Karlovy Vary International Film Festivalwhere he has been working as a moderator since 1996. He moderates the opening and closing evenings, presents films and also shoots Festival Seconds.
Cruel life wounds
Although his career is more than successful, his personal life had to contend with difficult tests. He met his wife Markéta Fišerová already at the conservatory, and married her in 1982. Together they starred in a romantic TV movie Face outside the window or in a musical TV movie Pusu, pusu, pusu!
His wife got the flu after passing it on inflammation of the heart muscle and later she had a tuberculosis finding on her lungs. Despite her serious health condition, she became pregnant, but their daughter Terezka was born in the seventh month and lived only a few days. Later, Markéta became seriously ill and ended up on wheelchair. Nevertheless, she still happily accompanies her husband to various events and after so many years they are a great support to each other.
