Who will be playing for England in the next 2025-26 Ashes series?

England’s cricketers have become household names after the sensational Ashes series and Ben Duckett, Zac Crowley, Harry Brook and Ben Stokes are likely to be available for the team again in two-and-a-half years (in 2025-26) when both teams play Test cricket. I will be face to face again.

The last Ashes Test was memorable in many ways but especially for Stewart Broad who bids farewell after eighteen years playing professionally.

James Anderson has vowed to keep playing but how many England bowlers are likely to play in the next Ashes series in Australia in the winter of 2025-26?

Zach Crowley – Given that he averages 43.06 against Australia, has played eight matches and is supported by Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, Crowley is likely to open for England for a long time.

Ben Duckett – Since returning to the team ahead of the Pakistan tour, Duckett has impressed with his performances alongside Crowley. Known for not dropping many balls, he can make this place his permanent home at the age of 28.

Ollie Pope – Pope averages just 15.70 in five matches against Australia, but as vice-captain he is seen as the future of the team.

Joe Root – Although Root will be 34 at the start of the next Ashes, his place and importance in the team makes it difficult to imagine an England batting line-up without him.

Harry Brooke – He benefited from Jonny Bairstow’s injury and cemented his place to the extent that England had to find a way to keep both of them in the team. Brooke could be the future of England cricket in all formats.

Ben Stokes – His left knee has been a concern for years and doesn’t seem to be improving, but he is largely credited for his success in baseball. Everyone will hope that their body will continue to support them.

Jonny Bairstow – An interesting question, as Bairstow will be 36 by the time of the next Ashes and is likely to be receiving franchise offers from around the world, but he himself has always expressed his love for Test cricket.

Chris Woakes – Has been the best player of the series this time and is likely to play a major role in the future but historically he has always excelled on England pitches but struggled outside the country. are

Moin Ali – Moeen had already retired from Red Ball cricket once when he returned to Stokes’ call after Jack Leach was injured. But he is adamant that this Ashes was his last.

Stuart Broad – Stuart loves the Ashes but is past the time of his career, and while he may be a potential presence in Australia, that presence is more likely in the commentary box than on the field.

James Anderson – Although he has already completed an incredibly long career. Still playing Test cricket at the age of 41, but it seems difficult for him to play at the top level at 43.

Mark Wood – England will need a fast bowler in Australia and Mark could be the most likely option but as always with any fast bowler there will be questions about whether he can stay fit until then. Can their body support them or not?

Ollie Robinson – Robinson has a minor back problem, but at 29 he is the youngest bowler in the seam attack and will likely still play an important role.

Josh Tong – Stokes’ statement that there are ‘like for like’ replacements for Tongwood was a bit too kind, but he has impressed in his two Test matches and his future could be bright.

Jack Leach – Jack did not miss a single-ball Test before the start of the Ashes due to his stress fracture and is likely to return, especially given Stokes’ loyalty to the players.

Gus Atkinson – The Surrey seamer has already caught the eye of many for his skill with the ball and pace and is seen as a future England international. He will be at his peak in 2025 at the age of 25.

James Reeve – He has taken the county game by storm since his debut and is currently the top run-scorer in the County Championship. He is definitely a good player with the glove and bat for the future.
