Mexican golfers Gaby López and María Fassi qualify for Paris 2024

Mexican women’s golf will have a presence at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after confirming that Gabriela López Butrón and María José Fassi Álvarez qualified, via ranking, for the summer tournament at the close of the period set for women by the International Golf Federation (IGF, for example). its acronym in English).

The qualification stage consisted of two years where López Butrón concluded his Olympic process in 26th place. He will also have the opportunity to participate for the third time in an Olympic event after placing 31st in Rio 2016 and 38th in Tokyo 2020. .

For his part, Fassi Álvarez placed 44th in the ranking and will attend his second Games after placing 23rd in the Japanese capital.

Mexico is the only Latin American country with two women qualified for the Paris Olympic Games, as well as the only one to do so with four representatives.

The delegation that will compete in this sport in France is the same one that competed in Tokyo 2020, since Carlos Ortiz and Abraham Ancer obtained their ticket last Monday at the end of the official ranking of the men’s branch.

Women will participate from August 7 to 10 at the Le Golf National headquarters in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, near the Versailles area, one of the most prestigious courses in the discipline in Europe that has hosted the French Open of the DP World Tour and the 2018 Ryder Cup, while the men will open the discipline from August 1 to 4.

As happened in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 editions, the course will have 60 golfers in both branches.
