Italian specialist Andrea Trinchieri, appointed head coach of the ULEB Euroleague team Kaunas “Žalgiris”, held the first press conference in his new position.
It was previously reported that the Lithuanian club has changed coach: Kazis Maksvītis officially left the team after a mutual agreement, Trinkieri took his place. The Italian opened the press conference by complimenting the Lithuanian specialist, stating that he did an excellent job, but has already continued with his goals.
“I am here with one goal: to help this team play better. I am very motivated because I am the coach of a basketball team in a country where basketball is a religion”, underlined Trinkieri.
“Žalgiris” is currently in 16th place in the Euroleague with five wins in 17 matches. “The distance from tenth place is not even that of Mars, but that of Saturn. My job is to support and help the players. Let’s behave like a submarine, I hope we can achieve something,” said the Italian.
