PrahaIN.cz reported an opinion dedicated to the words of former criminologist Karel Tichy. It was published in the period between holidays not only on our server, but also on other websites. The editorial team then asked Karel Tiché to comment on author Martin Bartkovský’s commentary. We report his words in full without editorial intervention.
“I am not active on any social network, which is why I learned only after some time and indirectly that I had become the object of interest of the journalist Martin Bartkovský. I don’t know him, I don’t know anything about him and I won’t describe him anywhere. And so, only briefly, his statements on the X network (Twitter) of December 23rd.
I’m following a complex operation, so I definitely won’t be bypassing any support. But if you are referring to some phrases that appeared in the media in connection with a recent tragic event, then I would like to say that I was asked by telephone by the editors Jiří Pšenička from Seznam Zpráv, Jakub Fujáček from Echa24 and Jan Holoubek from PrahaIN about my general opinion on this event.
Then there was always a conversation of about ten minutes on this topic. Individual editors then used excerpts of the calls in their articles. The attentive reader will surely have noticed that parts of quotations included in larger material, which was not my interview, were used. I am the last person to question the entire work of the police. But it is clear from the phrases used that I think things did not go as well as they could have and that I believe GIBS will also look into this. And if wrongdoing is discovered, those responsible will assume their share of responsibility.
What exactly came out of the ex-criminal’s mouth?
“It is necessary that all contexts of this event and the actions of all police units involved are assessed, verified and controlled extremely carefully. GIBS should certainly be involved in this. The series of steps that preceded the event raises the question whether the action was adequately evaluated and coordinated from the beginning. In the event that a wrongdoing is discovered, someone should also take political responsibility for it. As for the intervention at the university itself, the work of the police must be unequivocally praised as absolutely professional!”

I have nothing to do with any restitution fraud offenders prosecuted or convicted. I am proud to have served as an aide to Independent Senator Dr. Derner, a leading pediatric neurologist and courageous fighter against healthcare crime and corruption. And regarding my involvement and my end in the oath, I advise him to read the article published by Jan Hrbáček in the Economic Journal in December 2021. And the last sentence about the fact that I am not a completely relevant interviewee. I think I definitely understand police work better than Mr. Bartkovský.”
