VP-Korosec: Reasonable solutions needed instead of populist bans – 2024-06-15 21:10:40

Don’t just talk about improving working conditions, but also implement them!

Vienna (OTS) Following the recent statements by City Councillor Hacker regarding the planned restrictions on the private practices of hospital doctors, the health spokesperson of the Vienna People’s Party, Ingrid Korosec, reacted sharply: “It is unbearable what populist measures City Councillor Hacker wants to use to reform the already strained Vienna health system.”

“The conditions in Vienna’s hospitals are already extremely challenging. In 2023, there were almost twice as many resignations from the WIGEV as new specialists joined. Instead of not only announcing improvements in working conditions for doctors, but also actually implementing them, Hacker is resorting to bans that will only make the situation worse,” emphasizes Korosec, adding: “Just over 16% of doctors in Vienna’s hospitals are part-time workers. To speak of a widespread practice here is nothing more than show politics.”

“We need constructive and sustainable solutions to strengthen Vienna’s health system. Bans and populist measures are the wrong way to go. It is high time that City Councillor Hacker put sensible proposals on the table and seriously worked to improve conditions in hospitals. Our doctors and patients deserve better solutions than these short-sighted measures,” demands Korosec.
