Bagh-i Babur is considered to be one of the top historical and recreational places in Afghanistan.

There are several important historical buildings in the upper part of Bagh-i Babur, the most important of which is the simple tomb of Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur, which does not have a dome or a luxurious building, but according to Babur’s will, he was buried in the open air. Is.

According to historical references, Babur liked the climate of Kabul more, so he had willed that he should be buried in Kabul, but after dying in the city of Agra in India, he was buried there, but for a little more than 10 years. Later, as soon as he got a chance, his remains were transferred to Kabul by his successor King Humayun.

Every king in Babur’s generation used to come to Kabul for his political and military campaigns and occasionally to visit his grandfather and work for the population of Babur’s garden.

Beside Babur’s tomb is the tomb of his son Mirza Hindal who was killed in battle against his brother Humayun.

Shirin Agha said that Hindal was named because Babur’s son was born when his conquests in India began.

Another tomb next to Mirza Hindal’s tomb is that of Mirza Hakim, grandson of Babur and son of Humayun, who succeeded his father in Kabul for many years and also rebelled against his brother Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar.

With the fall of the Mughal Empire, Bagh Babur suffered a severe loss. At the end of the 18th century, Begum Al-Nisa, wife of the Durrani king Timur Shah, who is said to have belonged to the Mughal dynasty, was buried within the premises of Babur’s tomb.

At the end of the 19th century, the Durrani king Abdul Rahman Khan paid attention to Bagh Babur and built the Haram Sarai (Queen’s Palace) in front of Babur’s tomb in its eastern corner and the Bagh Babur Hotel near the Shah Jahani Mosque.

In the 20th century, the garden was opened to the general public, but from 2005 to 2009, the Aga Khan Foundation reconstructed and renovated the garden in the old style, which completely restored the freshness of the garden and now people visit it daily. Let’s go to this garden.
