Residents of Jabgara village of Khiyav have been protesting for two days to protest against mining activities that damage the environment. There is no one to hear our voice, we were forced to close the Agdara bridge. However, SEPAH representatives from Ardabil territory poured into the village and demanded the opening of the road. Many of the protestors were arrested and taken away.
Publika.az reports that a resident of Jabgara village, who did not want to reveal his name, said these words to Axar.az.
According to him, the situation is deplorable, there are a lot of arrests, but people do not back down and demand their rights:
“Tubna and Aghdara also joined the protest of Jabgara village. We do not open the bridge. No matter how much SEPAH pressures, arrests, or beats, we will not open the road. Mining should be stopped.”
According to him, there are also women among those arrested:
“They took away 11 men. Among them, 7 are from Jabara. Some of them are from Tubna. They arrested Tohid Mollayi, Ali Bakhshi, Aliaga Gulmammadzadeh. They beat these people and took them away in the morning. Then they arrested Javad Ismayilzadeh, Musa Rzaoglu, Jalil Shirzadeh, Hamid, Ibrahim and Yusif Safari brothers. 3 brothers are still in prison. Parents of SEPAH Safari brothers – Fatima Khanum and Huseyn, who did not lose heart, also called to the investigation office. A lady named Zarif was among those arrested. She is a very zealous lady. He always talks about people’s rights. Our nation is not backing down and we want them to restore our rights.”
