A person named Moniruzzaman Manu (42) was shot and hacked to death by the enemy at the port of Narayanganj. The murder took place at his home in Muradpur of Bandar on Friday (June 7) afternoon.
Moniruzzaman Manu is the son of deceased Kamal Uddin of Muradpur area of Ward No. 27 of Narayanganj City Corporation.
Locals and relatives said that Manu used to carry out terrorist activities in Muradpur area. Among his family, Abul was killed in police crossfire. Along with this, Manu’s brothers Nuruzzaman Nura and Babul Akhter, elder sister Nilufa, were killed by another terrorist group. After that Manu Kapasia got married and lived in his in-laws house.
On Thursday, Manu went to Qutubpur area of Kanchpur of Sonargaon upazila in neighboring Sonargaon upazila after receiving the news of his aunt’s death. When he reached his home on Friday morning, he was shot and hacked to death by the enemy.
Manu’s son Minhaj said, a group of 10-12 people led by Mithu, Titu and Monir, Nura Mia’s three sons of the area, took the father out of the house and first shot and stabbed him in the head and seriously injured him. Later he was rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station Golam Mostafa said that Moniruzzaman Manu was killed by local opponents due to previous enmity. Efforts are on to arrest those involved in the incident.
