Sidónio Malamba, Technical Director for high-competition football at Petro Atlético de Luanda, is the face of confidence, from the management of the road club, in winning Girabola, more than a decade later.
In an interview with Notícias de Angola, the former striker who ended his career at Petro de Luanda, expressed the desire and confidence, around the much-desired trophy of national football champion, which has eluded the club since the time when it was still player.
Asked if this is the time when Petro finally conquers Girabola, Malamba was peremptory in responding: “Everything suggests that yes, we are doing everything so that this dream can happen at the end of the season. And we believe that this time we will be able to win the title”.
Despite the poor performance in the African Champions League this season, the director demonstrated that there was no drop in the tricolors’ confidence and according to him, they are already preparing to participate in the next edition of the competition, which has a better outlook.
Regarding the club’s 40 years, Malamba highlighted the numbers and trophies won by the club during its existence, as factors that explain its greatness inside and outside the country.
Sidónio Malamba Carvalho Inácio, 40 years old, was a striker who had spells at ASA, where he trained, and also played for three clubs in Portugal.
He ended his career at Petro Atlético de Luanda in 2010, after being present in the last Girabola won by the club, in 2009, and also played 70 games for the Palancas Negras.
