According to the assessment of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), pertussis cases recorded from the beginning of the year until now are all scattered cases, without outbreaks. It is forecasted that in the coming time there will continue to be scattered cases of the disease, mainly in young children who are not yet old enough to be vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated.
Along with whooping cough, during the week, the whole city recorded 21 cases of dengue fever (down 2 cases compared to the previous week). Cumulatively from the beginning of 2024 until now, Hanoi has recorded 711 cases of dengue fever (more than 2 times more than the same period in 2023). However, the number of dengue fever cases is mainly concentrated in January 2024, which is the “tail” of the 2023 epidemic.
During the week, a new dengue fever outbreak was also recorded in Pho Hue ward, Hai Ba Trung district. Cumulatively from the beginning of the year until now, the city has recorded 8 outbreaks, currently 2 outbreaks are active in Dong Thap commune, Dan Phuong district and in Pho Hue ward, Hai Ba Trung district.

Recently, Hanoi CDC has coordinated with units to monitor 9 old dengue outbreaks, of which 8/9 old outbreaks have a high risk index.
According to Hanoi CDC, the current weather creates favorable conditions for disease-transmitting mosquitoes to arise. Therefore, localities need to strengthen the implementation of environmental sanitation campaigns to kill larvae to prevent and control dengue fever. At the same time, strengthen the direction of health and education units to perform well the work of epidemic prevention and control, promptly detect and treat cases, handle outbreaks quickly, and prevent outbreaks from arising in schools.
